In 2007 the company founder, Paul Griffin built an ecologically friendly family home using timber frame, geothermal heating, 'A'-rated windows and a host of other energy efficient technologies. All of the bulbs to be used were intended to be low energy but ‘it was very difficult to find anything except the standard bulbs, and when I sourced them from specialist shops they were very expensive’.

Great Bulbs was formed shortly afterwards to supply a full range of efficient bulbs. The management team have a depth of lamp (light bulb) experience and every bulb on the site has been tested to ensure that we stock only the best quality in each category.
